READ MORE: Pete Seeger

I met Pete Seeger almost a year ago after seeing an early copy
of the film, Pete Seeger: The Power of Song. Wishing to be helpful
to the film, I drove up to Beacon, NY to meet Pete and his wife
Toshi at their log cabin house they built by hand almost 50 years ago.
As we drove up the driveway, out of the woods came a man,
pushing a wheelbarrow filled with logs and I realized it was Pete Seeger.

At a time when perception is reality, it's refreshing to see the real deal.

Pete Seeger is the true mythic American hero. He fought to bring music
and song to political movements, even when it was unpopular and, at
times, dangerous. He's lived off the land all of his 87 years and raised
a multi-cultural family. He was rewarded for this by being blacklisted
for over 17 years for his short membership in the Communist Party -
- a party he joined because it represented at that time support for
diversity, the working man, and equality.

Pete Seeger: The Power of Song has its world premiere at the
Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday, April 29 and although I'm told
that tickets are sold out I'd urge you to look for it throughout the
festival and, hopefully, soon"
